PopSpots

OK...so here's a seriously cool website for music fans of all stripes. Bob Egan has created a site that documents "the exact spots where famous events of Pop culture took place." In a nutshell, he's taken current photographs of iconic music landmarks, mainly album covers, and overlaid them with the cover itself. It's fascinating to see, not only what that location looks like today, but also places the cover in a much larger context. In many of these, you can see what was in the frame that got cropped out of the album cover.

Ever wondered where the back photo of the NY Dolls debut came from? The Doors "Strange Days" and "Morrison Hotel?" KISS' "Dressed To Kill," Led Zeppelin's "Physical Graffitti?" or "The Ramones?" And that's just the focus on New York City; the "parent" site also includes the sites of The Grateful Dead's "Workingman's Dead," CSNY's "Deja Vu' and more. They're all here...in living color. Stop by and have a look. We think you'll be glad you came!
