Pioneer of the Nashville Sound

This is the story of Eddy Arnolds career from a farm in Western Tennessee during the Depression. It covers his success as a country star in the 40s and 50s and his decline as listeners gravitated toward the new rock sound, embodied by Elvis Presley.

Arnold kept recording, however, and working on his style. By the mid-60s he re-emerged as a pop crooner with "Make the World Go Away." He became a major concert attraction and a television personality and, though his star has faded, he has managed to place songs in the country Top Ten in every decade since.
