Why We Love The Sympathizer...

A couple of months ago, a new Twitter follower popped up in our feed. Still being small, personal and interested in our followers and community, we checked out The Sympathizer. At first blush, this was a different world indeed, miles away from our core audience. Or so we thought.

We started following The Sympathizer. We started reading and re-tweeting The Sympathizer. But, most importantly, we approached The Sympathizer to collaborate and share our thoughts, content and, hopefully, our audiences. Because we realized pretty quickly that they loved music — really, really loved music — every bit that we do. The bands may change, but music is, as Frank Zappa once said, “everything.”

Their style was also a bit different — more emotional, more long-form. We felt The Sympathizer would perfectly complement our readers passionate dissections and breakdowns of music books. We still do. In fact, we recognize ourselves in much of their writing. We think you will as well. We continue to explore and dance with each other, although our audiences may “appear” different (they’re really not), and we hope that you will follow, read, support and dance with both us and The Sympathizer.

The “Friday Night Dinner” discussions with Gauraa and Reina has quickly become “appointment” reading. What the hell…we’re home on Friday nights too. We have some interesting stuff coming up and ask our readers to check them out. You’ll recognize their passion for music. We also ask The Sympathizer’s readers to check us out and contribute reviews of your favorite music books. After all, you’re smart, passionate and music driven. And that’s our audience.  We look forward to more interesting collaborations with The Sympathizer. We’ll see you there…
